The continuous supply of clean, fresh water is something most of us take for granted. One beauty brand has made its mission to ensure that the underprivileged continue to get access to clean water – Laneige Malaysia.
Since 2014, the brand has successfully raised RM100,000 through the sale of its CSR Water Sleeping Mask, in which RM10 from sales were directed towards the campaign fund. Recently, The Weekly had the chance to join in on the meaningful campaign alongside Global Peace Foundation Malaysia (GPF) at Kampung Ulu Geroh, Perak, where the official water filtration handover ceremony was held to be given to the orang asli communities.
The journey from Kuala Lumpur took about an hour and a half to the small town of Gopeng, Perak. After a brief lunch, we went into the woods and up the hills to reach to the entrance of the village. Immediately we were warmly welcomed by the village children and presented with hand-made headbands to be worn.
Presentation of water filters to beneficiaries was also held in the village as a mark of the official handover to the community for access to clean water. After the ceremony, we were entertained by the villagers as they performed their traditional native dance and had us joining in on the fun.
Thanks to Laneige Malaysia, women of the village were treated to an all-exclusive beauty makeover to show them the importance of skincare and benefits of drinking and using good quality clean water on their skin. Happy faces were seen and at the end if the day, stationaries along with their famous ‘Refill Me’ water bottles were given to all schooling children in the community.
