Not a stranger to incorporating technology to her creations, designer Melinda Looi has once again decided to go outside the box with her latest collection that will be revealed at this year’s KL Fashion Week. In an intimate session just days before her show, Melinda shares it has been a frantic but deeply satisfying two months leading up to fashion week. “We started working with Epson to transfer my designs onto textiles using the latest digital printing technology, ” says Melinda. “I’m always adventurous when it comes to my design and I wanted to do something different this time. With digital printing, we were able to print on different types of materials like satin, PVC and polyester. It’s such a convenient service that has really opened up plenty of creative opportunities for me!”
The upcoming collection called The Interiors is said to draw from the decorative elements and components of interior space. Adds Melinda, “I will be showing more than 30 pieces at KL Fashion Week. Although not all will feature the digital prints on the outside but at least the inside of the garments would feature the digital prints.
“I like my garments to not only look good outside but also good inside!”
Well we can’t wait for the show this weekend!
