Whether it’s barbecue sauce or salad dressing, sauces are often made up of so many different ingredients, you can’t taste the saltiness in them.
However, just two tablespoons of your average barbecue sauce can contain up to 300mg of sodium.
We know what you’re thinking: “But don’t they contain more sugar than salt?”
Truth is, many items sold on shelves contain preservatives and sodium to prolong their shelf life.
3. Baked Pastries
From doughnuts to bagels and even the croissant you love so much, baked goods tend to contain plenty of sodium.
4. Reduced Sodium Foods
According to US FDA guidelines, foods that that have “reduced sodium” on them generally have 25 per cent less sodium.
5. Frozen Vegetables In Sauces
Steer clear of pre-sauced veggies. They’re full of sodium.
Instead, opt for bags of individual frozen vegetables.
