If your face seems to be bloated no matter how many facials you’ve done, perhaps it’s time to look into your diet and see how it might be the cause.

1. Salty Foods

Sodium causes your body to retain large amounts of water, making you feel bloated and uncomfortable. For women in particular, some hormonal fluctuations just before your period can cause your body to retain even more water, making your face even more bloated.

2. Mild Allergies

From shellfish to peanuts, different people are allergic to a wide variety of foods and at varying degrees, too. Sometimes, all it takes is one extra piece of a certain food item to set your body off.

3. Refined Foods

Some people have claimed that refined flours, sugars and foods that are high in their glycemic index causes them to bloat. If you suspect that this could be the case, avoid consuming them for a while to see how it feels.

Cooking-Oils

4. Foods High in Omega-6 Oils

For some, oils made from corn, safflower and peanut can sometimes cause your face to bloat. Depending on your body, see if this could be the reason by eliminating certain fried foods from your diet and see if your body responses better to omega-3 fatty acids like olive oil, flaxseed oil and fish oil.

5. Foods with Undigestable Sugars

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale and cabbage contain indigestable sugars that your body can’t seem to break down. In time, bacteria in your digestive tract ferments these sugars causing you to feel gassy and lead you to feeling and looking bloated.
