This resort is perfect for families as accommodation provided includes a spacious studio suite with a large couch for the starter family, or a 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom apartment for larger families. Guests are provided free entrance to the water park, which has a 5-slide racer slide, two spiral slides as well as smaller activity stations in the expansive pool. There are also other activities to be enjoyed at the resort for a small fee, including their 3D Art Museum, 9D Motion Theatre, and archery gallery, so there’s no need to leave the resort (except to savour the delicious Malaccan food outside).

Hard Rock Hotel, Penang

The hotel’s pool features three long slides as well as a fun water-spray play area for the younger kids. Staff also conduct regular water activities on one side of the pool during certain times, which may include water polo, water basketball or even a dance session by the pool, so the kids just might want to play in the pool all day. Meanwhile, mom and dad can relax at yet another part of the pool where it’s so quiet, you can’t believe it’s connected to the rowdy party on the other side. Have been playing too long until you’re all wrinkly? Then kids can join the hourly activities at the Kids’ Club, while teens can play video games or a round of pool at the Teens’ Club. Stay at a Kids’ Suite and they can play video games and toys or read a book in the room as well. And if they actually get bored of the pool, there’s always the beach!

Rates: From RM430 per night for 3 guests

Swiss Garden Resort Kuantan pool3

Swiss-Garden Resort Residences, Kuantan

We call this Kuantan’s best-kept secret (until now) as not many know of the existence of this resort, which is only a few kilometres away from the more popular Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Kuanta, an older and more popular establishment down the road. Its mini water theme park is quite well thought-out, based on the story of a boy who embarks on an adventure to return a magical pearl to the Underwater City of Teruntum. It features two pools with long and medium-length slides in a thrilling lost city setting. Catering to families, the resort offers studio suites as well as 2-bedroom apartments.

Rates: From RM280 on booking sites and AirBNB

Gunung Lambak Resort Kluang1

Gunung Lambak Resort, Kluang

This resort is pretty basic, and likewise its water park, which you’ll have to pay RM5 per adult and RM3 per child to enter, but if you don’t mind roughing it a bit, a short stay here could be a wonderful experience for the kids, especially if you like hiking. That’s right, the real star attraction here is the jungle trekking trails that take you to the top of Mount Lambak where you can take in a breathtaking view of the surroundings. If hiking with kids or beginners, you can opt for the tarred road trail or concrete covered trail, which are easier to hike. The hike takes you through the jungle and along streams and rivers, and you can enjoy a meal or have a bit of fun at the mini water park after the hike.
