4 Reasons Painting Can Be Good For Your Health

Make your day a little brighter with this simple activity to de-stress.

By Iva Kuck | October 28, 2016

Keeping your mind and body sharp is important especially as you age. Aside from eating healthily and keeping fit, finding a creative outlet keeps your mind strong while expanding your horizons. Painting provides a fun, new hobby that sharpens your mind and has plenty of health benefits. Here are reasons you should pick up a paintbrush and try this hobby out!

1. Improve Creativity

Drawing and colouring are ways to express yourself artistically. It really depends on you on what you’d like to draw or colours to use. Be it realistic, abstract or chaotic, let your inner Picasso loose!

2. Relieves Stress

It can be therapeutic because it allows your mind to focus on what you are drawing and colouring at hand, and nothing else. This stress relief can be beneficial to reduce the risk of physiological illnesses as well.

3. Release of Hidden Emotions

Just like other calming activities such as praying or meditation,  it helps to clear your mind and leave you feeling soothed.

4. Be More Observant

As one is exposed to colours, shading, light while colouring and drawing, you’d be able to pay closer attention to finer details. Plus it improves your concentration skills!
