Dessert Hot Cross Buns

Wonderfully sweet and fluffy, these hot cross buns are delicious served warm, drizzled with maple syrup and fresh fruit. This dish makes a delicious breakfast or dessert.



2 eggs

½ cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

60g butter

4 hot cross buns, halved

Sliced bananas, to serve

Strawberries, to serve

Maple syrup, to serve



1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla. Dip hot cross buns into egg mixture, turning to coat.

2. Heat butter in a large frying pan on medium. Cook buns in two batches, 2-3 mins each side, until golden.

3. Serve with banana and strawberries. Drizzle with maple syrup.

Tip: If preferred, use fruit bread or brioche in place of hot cross buns.
