Winner of the Health, Sports and Wellness category as well as voted Most Inspiring Woman at last year’s Great Women of Our Time awards, Prof Woo Yin Ling is certainly an amazing woman. As a gynaecological oncologist at University Malaya Medical Centre, Prof Woo looks after cancer patients in advanced stages of cancer as well as wear a researcher’s hat as the head of the core immunology facility within the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
Being a clinician – scientist means juggling the demands of both functions. Prof Woo admits it’s a tough balancing act but she loves her job because of how both areas can contribute to each other’s progress at the same time.
“My interaction with patients produce invaluable local insight that helps me tailor effective preventative measures unique to Malaysians”, says Prof Woo.
