You’re about to read some of the most tear-jerking stories we could find – you’ve been warned!

#1 The dog that stood by his master till the very end

We’re sure you’ve seen this photo circulating on the Internet years ago. In 2011, when Petty Officer Jon Tumilson was killed in a major U.S. helicopter crash in Afghanistan, his military dog, Hawkeye, was seen lying by his master’s coffin during his funeral ceremony.

Since then, a close friend of Jon has taken over the responsibility of caring for Hawkeye.

#2 The dog that went on a road trip during his last days

Thomas Rodriguez adopted his mixed-breed dog, Poh, when he was just eight weeks old from a shelter 15-years ago. However, Poh received a terminal diagnosis and Thomas knew he needed to do something memorable before time ran out. In an interview with ABC, Thomas said, “I’m always traveling, but Poh is my home, my child. I think this resonated with a lot of dog owners. They wish they could do stuff like this with their dog and spend these moments, but sometimes life gets in the way. People think I take care of Poh, but Poh takes care of me.”

Poh passed away on 12 February, 2016.

#3 The dog that ran away to stand by his owner’s grave

In 2016, Miguel Guzman passed away suddenly and by the time his family returned from the funeral, his dog, Capitan, was nowhere to be found. It was only a few days later that they found Capitan at the cemetery, guarding his master’s grave. It’s a mystery as to how he found the grave as Miguel’s family has never brought the dog over to the cemetery.

#4 The dog that saved his owner from carbon monoxide poisoning

When Jack Farell woke up to find himself on his kitchen floor, bleeding – his left arm was in the jaws of his adopted German shepherd – he thought his dog had turned on him. But soon he found out that his dog Max had actually saved him.

Jack had passed out the night before from inhaling the gas and collapsed on the floor, so when Max couldn’t wake him up by nudging him, he resorted to dragging Jack from the bedroom and down the hall.
